Chester Junior Chess Club is a welcoming and inclusive space for young players aged 6 to 14 to learn, play, and develop their chess skills. Whether your child is new to the game or already an experienced player, our club offers a structured yet enjoyable environment to improve their understanding of chess.
Sessions take place every Sunday from 12:00 to 14:00 at the Saughall Arms. Each session begins with a 30-minute lesson, introducing key concepts and strategies, followed by open play where children can practice, compete, and apply what they’ve learned. The club is open to all skill levels, from complete beginners to more advanced players.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch, though attendance is not required. To ensure a high-quality experience, the club is currently limited to 16 spaces per session, which can be reserved in advance by messaging.
While attendance is free, an optional £2 contribution per session helps support the club by funding additional chess boards and equipment. In the future, we plan to introduce tournaments and special events to further engage and challenge our young players.
